Katie (Kay) is the founder of Luminecta Studio. The foundation of her practice began as a child under her mother’s yoga teachings, rooted in the B.K.S Iyengar Hatha practice. She later began studying Tibetan Buddhism under Geshe Kalsang Rapgyal in the Tibetan Gelug tradition which deeply influenced her understanding of the yogic way of life and impressed the importance of concentration and meditation. She traveled to the Himalayan region of northern India to enrich her practice, primarily studying both Buddhism and Ashtanga Yoga. In Dharamshala, India (2016) she completed a Yoga teacher training program in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Vijay Amar, a student of Sri B.N.S. Iyengar of Mysore.
Over the years, Kay expanded her studies into the healing traditions of the region, studying with many wonderful teachers in Ayurveda and Himalayan sound and rejuvenation therapies. While she continues to teach yoga asana and guide sound bath experiences, her practice is now centered in Marma therapy (Ayurvedic acupressure/energy point healing), which includes the use of applied sound vibration. She completed her training and Marma healing practicum under the guidance of Dr. Vasant Lad. Her sessions work to facilitate rejuvenating and transformative experiences through sound, Marma, and sensory nourishment. Her practice and teaching style are deeply influenced by her studies in Buddhism, emphasizing the importance of cultivating awareness and compassion as part of a yogic way of life and healing.
